What is Covered by the Workers’ Compensation?
Workers’ compensation insurance only covers injuries or illnesses that arose from work-related activities. If an employee slipped and fell or gotten into an accident while carrying a heavy load, workers’ compensation should cover the employee’s loss of wage and medical expenses from the accident.
What is Not Covered by the Workers’ Comp?
Workers’ comp does not cover any injuries or illnesses that did not arise from work-related activities. There are many incidents that happen every year that are not covered by the workers’ compensation insurance because of special circumstances.
Here are some examples where the workers’ compensation would not cover:
- Injuries received from a physical confrontation between employees
- Employees purposely inflicting injuries on themselves

Examples such as these would not be covered because they were not caused by the work itself.
How Workers’ Compensation Claims Work
Employees who get injured at work should immediately file a claim with the insurance company as soon as they are able to. If the claim involves injuries, the involved parties should also get a medical report from a doctor so they can support the claims that they make.
